Kate Winslett was born 1975 in Reading. Her career began on television in the science fiction serial Dark Season. Kate’s film career began successfully with Heavenly Creatures (1994) followed by Sense and Sensibility, winning a BAFTA award for Best Actress.
The role of Rose DeWitt Bukater in the massive hit Titanic (1997) followed and more recently she starred in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) and Little Children (2006).
Kate has also had “Winslet Place” a new apartment complex named in her honour.
