Famous novelist and writer, Elizabeth Taylor was born in 1912 in Reading, Berkshire.
She was educated at The Abbey School in Reading (which Jane Austen had attended) and then worked as a governess, tutor, and librarian.
Her first novel, At Mrs. Lippincote’s, was published in 1945 and was followed by eleven more.
She also published short stories in magazines and wrote a children’s book.
She has been voted as one of the most underrated writers of the last century and also one of the finest.
She sadly died aged 63.
