Reading West MP Alok Sharma has secured a half an hour slot in Parliament to talk about Reading and it’s bid to become a City in 2012.
The debate will be today (Tuesday 7th June) between 1230-1pm.
This was announced on 27th May when Reading submitted their City Status Bid in London.
Alok, who is Reading West’s MP has been campaigning for this opportunity to put across the strengths of Reading to his peers for sometime and will relish the opportunity to share the assets of the town as we continue to promote Reading for City Status.
Alok, who has been extremely active in supporting the towns bid, and continuing the great work of his predecessor Martin Salter, has made appearances on BBC Radio Berkshire on the same show as The City of Reading Creator Tom Dixon. During the questions put to him by Andrew Peach his detailed argument for Reading gaining City Status was excellent so we await this debate with anticipation.
The debate transcripts will be available via the BBC and we will publish these as soon as we are able to.
Good Luck Alok, do Reading Proud.
