So who’s in, and who’s out?
It seems that each week there is new news of another town within the UK putting itself forward for the City Status Competition in which 1 town in the whole of the UK will be awarded City Status as part of the Celebrations for Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.
Since Christmas a number of towns throughout the UK have been busily preparing their City Status bid for the much sought after prize that will be bestowed on 1 town in the UK as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations next year.
Here is a rough list the Towns that have indicated they will be entering the bid so far:

This is a big list, and with only 1 winner the competition will be fierce! But as each town seeks to promote and differentiate themselves for the others, at The City of Reading we believe that we should focus not on the competition, but on Reading.
The best way to showcase the town is to share all of the amazing people and activities that happen here each and every day of the year.
By sharing this with each other we will not only showcase Reading as a great place to live and one worthy of City Status, but we can also inspire our fellow citizens to try and do greater things.
