A plan for 2 new buildings, (a storage unit and distribution depot) on the Worton Grange Site (old Hewlett Packard Site) will create 500 news jobs and received a massive thumbs up when it was put before the council planning committee.
There will also be 200 temporary construction posts for the building phase of the development. This is great news for Reading, and also South Reading as it will not only create jobs but redevelop a brown field site that has laid dormant and unused for sometime.
The Developers will also need to pay the council for the increase in HGV traffic created by the distribution depot aswell as providing funds to Reading Community Interest Charity which will be used for training initiatives.
What do people think, a step in the right direction? Or could there be another use for this site?

This would be excellant for Reading especially with the new Reading Gateway road system nearing completion and the much improved access for to the M4. Does that mean that trainees will be used in the build and also within the warehousing as part of their training or funds generated/paid by the developers will be used to train in a variety of skill?. What a great community building idea.
